Our little trooper.

It’s a weird feeling when you miss an animal you’ve only had for a short time and that you know isn’t even yours. It also reveals how special that animal is, and how lucky you are to have her in your life at all.

I felt the lack of Zabora’s presence last night more than I would have expected. I was so excited to finally be able to see her this afternoon. She was full of energy when I visited with her, which gave me hope that she was going to be fixed and ready to come home sooner than estimated. That reverie was quickly cut short, though, when the doctor came in and said her drainage tube was still in because there hadn’t been sufficient drainage. Yuck, right? Poor girl. She would have to stay at the vet another night.

I was happy to see her in such great spirits, though. She is such a strong little girl. Every day I see love and resilience shine through dogs with pasts tough enough to break most humans, and she is no exception.

As strong as she may be, she still needs our help. With $2,500+ in the fundraising bank in only 48 hours, this girl truly has an army of supporters behind her. I wish I could put into words how awestruck and grateful I am over what has transpired over the last two days, but I can’t. I can say, though, that I am excited for what is to come in the story of sweet Zabora. There are new twists and turns every day. I’m thankful to be able to share her journey with you, because this one will be one for the books.
